The Most Beautiful Destinations In America

The magnetic beauty of South and Central America goes beyond imagination. The region is blessed with breathtakingly diverse vistas of ancient ruins and amazing natural wonders including majestic mountains, dramatic glaciers, exotic beaches and waterfalls. This short list of marvelous destinations is only a small drop in that ocean of beauty that seems to have no end.

7.Patagonia. Chile and Argentina.

Patagonia, shared by Argentina and Chile, is one of the most beautiful geographic regions on the continent. It is a land of wild prairies and steppes, crystal rivers, lakes and majestic views of Andean peaks. Absolutely a destination for adventurers.

6. Kaieteur Falls. Guyana.

This stunning and powerful waterfall located in central Guyana is 226 meters (741 ft) high, i.e. five times higher than the Niagara Falls. The sight is a main attraction of the Kaieteur National Park, but hidden deep in the lush rainforest, it does not attract hordes of tourists, so the place has remained truly unspoiled.

5.Belize.

Belize is unquestionably a dazzling jewel of Central America. Dipped in the Caribbean Sea, it is a little country of enormous beauty captured in tropical landscapes of white sand beaches, exotic islets, pleasant weather, and a fascinating coral reef with the best preserved marine ecosystems in the world. A paradise for divers and snorkelers.

4.Isla de Ometepe. Nicaragua.

Ometepe means "two mountains" or "between two hills". The island was formed by two volcanoes rising from Lake Nicaragua in the Republic of Nicaragua. The views of sophisticated hills towering above exotic and pristine jungles give the island its impressive beauty.

3.Machu Picchu. Peru.

Machu Picchu, the lost Inca city, is a magical and splendid place. This ancient site that nestles 2,430 metres (8,000 ft) above sea level between amazing mountains peaks was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983. Despite the crowds, Machu Picchu can really take your breath away.

2.Torres del Paine, Grey Glacier. Chile.

Patagonia deserves a double mention on the list of most beautiful destinations in South America. The Torres del Paine National Park, located in Chilean Patagonia, is a true wonder. The views of magnificent mountains, crystal lakes and glaciers are unforgettable. Among the highlight is Grey Glacier, an amazing ice formation which is part of the Southern Patagonian Ice Field, the world's third biggest extension of continental ice.

1.The Cordillera Huayhuash. Peru.

The Cordillera Huayhuash mountain range in the Andes is only 30 km long but its beauty is vast. Its peaks are difficult to access (six of them exceed 6000 m) so there is less trekking than in neighboring Cordillera Blanca. Although the landscape appears a bit rugged, its mystical, unconquerable surroundings are hypnotizing.
